Wood

Wood is the oldest and most common construction material that has been used in building since prehistoric times. Until the last century, the most widely used and advanced technologies on wooden structures have been in the domain of Japan and Ottoman Empire, especially used in Anatolia; recently though, they are left as iron concrete is adopted.

Wood is light, earthquake resistant, much more durable and easy to maintain than steel and concrete, easy to construct and the most appropriate construction material for human metabolism. It can be built fast. However these are not the reason for wood to be seen as the material of the next century, the reason is wood’s being the most effective weapon people have against Global Warming and the Greenhouse Effect. The heat insulation quality of wood is 400 times higher than steel and 1800 times higher than aluminum. For all these reasons we should prefer wood for our buildings and preserve them.
